Divisions Decided by PPG

Coronavirus (Covid-19) has had a profound effect on the health of the nation and how we live our lives. We have also seen a massive impact on the League programme and continue to see its effects now the season is over.

The Management Committee have tried to steer a course to keep participants safe, bring a conclusion to the season and allow some movement in the divisions. With so much football lost the additional rule allowing divisional
rankings in the event of a non-completed season provided an opportunity toachieve a result.

Both the League and County Cups failed to be completed due to the fact that no football could be played from January until March.

Unlike many other Leagues across the Country, the EOFL restarted it Divisional programme on 01 April 2021 with mainly Saturday fixtures being scheduled although many of these were not played due to clubs failing to raise teams.

Fortunately the League had amended their rules, with the agreement of clubs, and it was agreed that if all teams completed a minimum of 50% of their fixtures, the final league tables would be based on PPG. It was further agreed that, whilst there would be no relegation, clubs would be promoted in the usual way.

Congratulations therefore go to the Divisional Champions for 2020/21:

Buckhurst Hill – Premier Division
Ongar Town – Division 1
Leigh Town – Division 2
ACD United – Division 3
Catholic United Res – Division 4
Wakering Sports A – Division 5

Buckhurst Hill are moving up to Step 6 in the Thurlow Nunn League next season and we wish them all the best in the future.

Our President, Gordon Evans stepped down this season. Gordon became a League Officer in 1967 and in his time has been Treasurer, Secretary and Vice-Chairman. John Cook, Mark Irvine and Andy Chaplin are stepping down
at the AGM. We thank the outgoing Officers for their time and contribution to the EOFL and wish them well. During 2020/21 the League lost Vice Presidents Phil Coulthard and Stan Sewell our best wishes to their families.

We look forward to an easier time in the 2021/22 season but there are risks this may not be the case and we should all plan accordingly. The League continues to attract new Clubs and teams and we hope they enjoy their time in the EOFL.

A big thank you to the Management Committee and the member Clubs for all your efforts over this most difficult of seasons
